A PRACTICAL LEARNING PATH

Understand the whole
product business.

Start with no ecommerce experience. Work through the decisions behind a launch, then learn how to review sales, stock and cash together. A well-supported decision to revise or stop a project is a useful outcome too.

Six learning stages: market and model, product validation, documents and suppliers, unit economics, launch preparation, and managing the business. The final project is a launch plan and a reasoned decision.

START WITH YOUR SITUATION

Choose a market
that fits your setup.

Compare the United States, United Kingdom, European Union and United Arab Emirates. Separate the business base, stock location and customer market; check requirements for the specific combination you choose.

Compare US, UK, EU and UAE markets. Business registration, inventory location and customer location may differ. Check seller eligibility, payouts, product requirements, taxes and total costs.

FROM IDEA TO OPERATIONS

Make the decisions
in the right order.

Follow one example product through research, sourcing, preparation and promotion.

Ready-made organizers, custom packaging and a partly assembled prototype illustrate three selling models.

01

Choose how you will trade

Compare reselling, private label and your own production. Then choose separately who will store and fulfil your orders.

Three different organizer designs with comparison cards, a ruler and material samples.

02

Check the product before buying

Compare customer needs, competitors, specifications and restrictions. Decide what evidence you need before committing to stock.

03

Choose suppliers and inspect samples

Compare like-for-like quotes, document the specification and inspect the sample. Plan how you will check the production batch.

04

Plan the route to your customer

Work through product packaging, transport, import responsibilities, storage and returns. Compare FBA and FBM for your own setup.

05

Build a clear product offer

Prepare accurate product information, useful photography and a controlled advertising plan. Review the results alongside returns and total costs.

YOUR FINAL PROJECT

A documented
launch decision.

Bring together the market, product, supplier, requirements, costs and next steps. Make the evidence clear enough for someone else to follow your reasoning.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Know what remains
after the costs.

In this illustrative case, $28.50 of revenue after refunds leaves $6.73 after the included costs and advertising. Fixed costs and taxes still need to be deducted. The inputs are teaching assumptions, not a quote for a real product.

Per original shipment: revenue after refunds $28.50, product cost $9.36, referral fee $4.32, fulfillment $4.14, other costs $0.95, advertising $3.00. Contribution after advertising is $6.73, before fixed costs and taxes.
